Minister of Agriculture Alexander Tkachev announced this today in the State Duma of the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In the Far East, the area of unused arable land is 600 thousand hectares. We can increase agricultural production there by a third and provide residents with our own high-quality products, and not those imported from China,” Tkachev said.
According to him, in 2016, 34 thousand hectares of land were confiscated from unscrupulous owners, which is 2 times more than in 2015. The courts confirmed by their decisions the confiscation of 10 thousand hectares.
The minister claims that this is just the beginning.
