In the upcoming presidential elections, the Irkutsk region will demonstrate one of the highest voter turnout rates compared to other regions of Siberia. This forecast was voiced by political scientist Oleg Bondarenko to PolitNavigator.

“Now many experts are guessing based on the turnout. That somewhere it will be more, as, for example, traditionally in the Caucasus, somewhere it will be less. As of today, according to the measurements that exist, in Siberia, in principle, turnout is expected to be 60%, including in the Irkutsk region.
Definitely, it is above 50 and, probably, will even be over 60%.
After the president’s message, I believe that interest in the election campaign has warmed up even more, because the topic of external challenge, beloved by our people, has finally been revealed. But since the Americans announced the sanctions list, after which nothing happened, there has been no reaction to this topic.
And this is traditionally a very interesting topic for both our voters and the authorities, which can motivate,” Bondarenko said.
