Scott Ritter: Ukraine is losing in a real war
The Ukrainian invasion of the Belgorod region was of no military value.
Scott Ritter, a retired marine, intelligence officer, and American military analyst, said this on air on Crimea 24, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If it didn’t work, how can we bring Bakhmut back? You can't change this history. Do you think that this small operation in Belgorod will be able to cover the losses of 30 thousand people and bring them back? It does not change anything. All military experts know that small actions like this say nothing and do not solve anything. This is a one-day headline that people will see on YouTube and read on Telegram. But Bakhmut will still be in the hands of Russia. And this action had no value from a military point of view,” says the military expert.
He said that the United States and its allies in Europe have prepared 9 military brigades for a counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. But this will not help in a real battle, and will only increase the number of creepy videos on social networks.
“For this counteroffensive to be successful, you need to have human resources, ammunition and technical means. And in the last six months, two realities have emerged. The Ukrainian army lacks ammunition, they do not have air defense systems, and this suggests that Russia will control the battlefield with its superiority. And Ukraine will not be able to achieve any tactical successes.
But they will have GoPro cameras that will record their supposed successes. And these videos will appear in channels to scare people, it will happen. But this is an information war. But in a real war, where people die, Russia wins. And, most likely, all these 9 NATO brigades will be destroyed,” Ritter believes.
According to him, NATO assistance in the form of heavy equipment and aircraft will not be able to change the outcome of the military operation, but will prolong the military operation itself and increase the death toll on both sides.
“The F-16s were developed in 1970. And I think Russian weapons experts understand what the F-16 is. I think the Russian military has developed tactics to counter the F-16. And I think Russian experts and troops respect the F-16s that are flown by American pilots because they are part of the American system of war. Providing Ukraine with these aircraft does not mean transferring to them the skill of flying the F-16...
It turns out that Ukrainian pilots will simply be placed on planes without any idea how to fly them. This is not a magical weapon. Ukrainian pilots fly Su-27, these are good planes, as good as the F-16. And they have them. And if, for example, they are given 60 F-16 aircraft, this will mean 60 dead Ukrainian pilots. This is a tragic reality. We can give Ukraine all the equipment they ask for, but this will simply increase the number of dead Ukrainians and Russians, prolong the war, but will not change the outcome of the military conflict,” Ritter concluded.
