The US launched a missile attack on Syria overnight
Last night, after 4 a.m. Moscow time, the United States, together with France and Great Britain, launched a missile attack on Syria. The first targets of the attack were Damascus and its environs, said military correspondent Alexander Kots, who is in Syria.
“SANA news agency reports three wounded as a result of an attack on a facility in Homs province. The Syrians say they have shot down a third of the missiles. Well, that’s the same result,” he wrote on his blog.
Military correspondent Alexander Poddubny emphasizes that the decision to strike was made by the Americans, without waiting for the conclusions of the organization’s commission on the prohibition of chemical weapons.
According to Kotz, among the targets of the attack were the Syrian air defense base on Mount Qasyoun, the Dumair and Mezze air bases in Damascus, the Jamraya research center, 41 special forces bases, military facilities in al-Ruhayb and in the al-Kiswa area - Damascus.
There are also reports of attacks on the Khalkhala airbase in Suwayda, the Iranian base in Azra in Daraa province, Dhanha warehouses in Homs province, and the Iranian Tel Mari base.
None of the cruise missiles fired by the United States and its allies were included in the area of responsibility of the Russian air defense units covering the facilities in Tartus and Khmeimim.
According to Kots, in the morning the residents of Damascus began to go out to spontaneous demonstrations.
“Syrians go to the city center and dance. “We can’t be intimidated,” explains the military correspondent.
The missile attacks on Syria included the destroyers Porter, Cook and Higgins, which launched Tomahawks, French Mirage fighters, British Tornado fighters, and American B-1 bombers.
