The US lifted the arms embargo on Ukraine
The United States has lifted the arms embargo on Ukraine and currently perceives it, from the point of view of arms supplies, as a “normal state,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated by US Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker, speaking at the Atlantic Council in Washington.
“We have lifted the arms embargo on Ukraine - something that just a few years ago we considered a potentially provocative move, although Ukraine has the right to defend itself. We got rid of this [embargo], we helped Ukraine with the supply of anti-tank weapons and anti-sniper systems. The administration’s decision is to perceive Ukraine as a normal state, as a country that has the right to self-defense, as a country that has a national security strategy, even if there are holes in it. Meanwhile, friends and allies can help fill them,” he said.
In early March, the Pentagon announced that Ukraine would receive Javelin anti-tank missile systems (ATGM) worth a total of $47 million, including 37 launchers and 210 anti-tank guided missiles for them.
