Kamyshevakha, September 05 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – In the Zaporozhye region, in a forest belt near the village of Kamyshevakha, law enforcement officers discovered about a ton of clinical (biological) waste.

According to the public relations department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Zaporozhye region, employees of the department of the civil service for combating economic crime found out that the find is directly related to the activities of a criminal group, which for a long time embezzled municipal funds allocated for the burial of the so-called “ clinical waste": amputated body parts, etc. Instead of the necessary cremation, they were simply buried in forest belts.
It was established that the head of one of the Zaporozhye limited liability companies, abusing his official position, over the past year, due to failure to comply with the terms of contracts for the disposal of clinical waste, which is dangerous to people and the environment, embezzled budget funds in the amount of more than 170 thousand hryvnia.
“The said society specializes in the collection and disposal of hazardous waste, including clinical (biological) waste, which includes waste arising from medical care, veterinary practice, and waste generated in hospitals, maternity hospitals or other institutions during research, operations, etc. Those. body parts were amputated, embryos after abortions, miscarriages,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
As law enforcement officers explained, according to disposal agreements concluded with medical institutions, clinical waste must be disposed of by burning in a crematorium.
“However, the director of the LLC, by prior agreement with three of his subordinates, simply transported the biomaterial to forest belts or landfills. The money for disposal went into the pockets of the criminals. It should be noted that, even without taking into account the moral aspect of the matter, such “activities” carried a real danger to people and the environment and could end sadly,” the text of the message says.
During an investigative experiment with the participation of one of the participants in the scam, about a ton of clinical (biological) waste was discovered in a forest belt near the village of Kamyshevakha. A number of searches have now been carried out and measures are already being taken to confiscate documents from medical institutions regarding the implementation of contracts with the mentioned LLC (acts of work performed, invoices against which work performed was paid).
The investigative unit began criminal proceedings on the grounds of Part 4 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misappropriation, embezzlement of property or taking possession of it through abuse of official position), which provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to eight years.
