In the Rivne region, police seized 200 kg of amber from diggers
In the Rivne region, during a search in one of the villages, law enforcement officers seized almost 200 kg of illegally mined amber, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the Communications Department of the Rivne region police.
“On August 29, on the basis of a court order, police and prosecutors conducted authorized searches in one of the villages of the Rivne region. During the search, 197 kg of raw amber of various fractions were seized; according to preliminary data, the value of the seized is 2,8 million hryvnia,” the police reported.
Law enforcement officers added that measures are currently being taken to establish distribution channels for processed amber and persons involved in illegal activities.
Criminal proceedings have been opened under Part 4 of Art. 240 (Violation of subsoil protection rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
