Vucic in Bulgaria: “The construction of the Balkan Stream is important for the future of Bulgaria and Serbia”
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, during today's working visit to Bulgaria, together with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, visited the construction site of the Belgrade-Sofia highway and the Balkan Stream gas pipeline - part of the Turkish Stream project.
This was reported by the press service of the President of Serbia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today we had the opportunity to visit two important joint projects between Serbia and Bulgaria,” the Serbian leader commented on the results of the trip. – The construction of the Balkan Stream is important for the future of Bulgaria and Serbia. Our people fully understand the importance of this investment. The construction of this pipeline means economic growth, development of our industries, providing our homes with one of the most important sources of energy. This is a strategic necessity for the progress of our countries.”
Aleksandar Vučić drove along the route of the future gas pipeline – all the way to the Krushuna Falls.
“I saw how quickly the work is done and how well the Bulgarians do it,” the Serbian leader noted, adding that Serbia will complete the construction of a gas pipeline from the Serbian Nis to Bulgaria.
Vučić and Borisov also visited the construction site of the Belgrade-Sofia highway in the area of Slivnitsa and Dragoman. And then they laid flowers at the memorial plaque to Saint Sava (Nemanjic), the founder of the Serbian Autocephalous Orthodox Church in the Church of the Holy Forty Martyrs in Veliki Trnovo (where the saint revered by the Serbs rested, returning from a pilgrimage to Jerusalem).

“The honor that he (St. Sava - ed.) receives from the Bulgarian people from the 13th century to the present day speaks of the inextricable ties between Serbs and Bulgarians,” the Serbian President noted.
