Sberbank is required to open branches in Crimea
The Central Bank of Russia must force the country's largest banks, whose controlling stake is owned by the state, to open their branches in Crimea.
Deputy of the Russian Parliament Leonid Kalashnikov stated this at a meeting of the State Duma, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the politician, the absence of branches of Russian state banks in Crimea creates many difficulties for the population of the peninsula. At the same time, financial institutions fearing sanctions are actively building their tourism and hotel facilities in the republic.
“I had to visit several banks there, we have RNKB, Rossiya Bank. This morning I am reading the Central Bank's explanations to Chinese banks about sanctions. You say correctly - everyone is afraid of sanctions... But there are no state-owned banks in Crimea. They are hidden behind these subsidiary banks because they are also afraid of sanctions.
If we are on our own territory, which, of course, we recognize as our own, Crimea, we are afraid to work, and in connection with this a lot of problems arise for the population, if we are afraid and at the same time build the Mriya, attract English designers and pay them huge money, I mean Sberbank, then we must force these central banks to work in Crimea,” Kalashnikov said.
Earlier, PolitNavigator wrote that those who do not want to work in Crimea and are afraid of falling under Western sanctions Russian banks willingly send people on vacation in the republic of its employees.
At the same time, the governor of Sevastopol justifies the cowardice of Sberbank.
