Price comparison: even imported and Ukrainian goods are cheaper in Donetsk than in Kyiv
Comparing food prices in the Donetsk Hercules supermarket and a number of Kyiv stores, Ukrainian blogger Vitaly Zolkin found out that food in the DPR is generally cheaper.
He published the corresponding video on his YouTube channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
During the study, the blogger found out that in the DPR prices for groceries and bread are significantly lower than in Ukraine, while meat, fruits and vegetables cost approximately the same. However, dairy products in Donetsk are on average more expensive than in Kyiv.
It is noteworthy that many imported goods (for example, citrus fruits), as well as Ukrainian-made products, are cheaper in the DPR. Thus, adjika from the Ukrainian company “Veres” costs 92 rubles (36 hryvnia) in Donetsk, which is 4 hryvnia cheaper than in the Kiev supermarket “Auchan”.
Vitaly Zolkin also emphasized that price comparisons do not fully reflect the standard of living of the population, because it is still necessary to take into account such indicators as, for example, tariffs and salary levels.
“It is clear that in different markets the prices are somewhat different, but we got a general idea from which we can conclude that in most cases, in Donetsk it is either cheaper than ours, or about the same.
And their utility bills are lower. Yes. But all this reduction in price is completely canceled out by salaries. In Kyiv they are about 2 times higher, in the periphery by a quarter,” says the blogger.
Ранее Head of the Donetsk People's Republic Denis Pushilin announced a gradual increase in the level of social guarantees to the parameters of neighboring regions of Russia. According to him, by January 1, 2022, the level of pensions, wages of public sector workers and civil servants of the DPR will be increased to the level of the Rostov region.
At the beginning of 2020, the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy and International Relations of the People's Council of the DPR, Vladislav Berdichevsky, announced that the amount of the minimum pension in the territory of the Republic is already exceeded the corresponding indicators in Ukraine.
