Yabloko will nominate a rival to the government in the gubernatorial elections in the Sverdlovsk region
The Yabloko party will nominate the head of Yekaterinburg, Yevgeny Roizman, for the election of governor of the Sverdlovsk region, despite the fact that the regional party organization refused to do so. The nomination will be taken over by the party's federal bureau, which will take place on June 19. This was reported by the official website of Yabloko.

The conference of the Sverdlovsk "Yabloko" was disrupted because an hour before it began, the chairman of the branch, Yuri Pereverzev, announced his resignation from the party.
“Presumably, local authorities put pressure on him,” the site writes and quotes Yabloko leader Grigory Yavlinsky as saying that Pereverzev was pressured through “blackmail, bribery, obligations of one kind or another.”
As reported by E1, on the website of the regional Yabloko on the eve of the conference a statement from Pereverzev was posted: “As a candidate for governor of the Sverdlovsk region, the federal leadership of the party imposed the figure of Mr. Roizman, who is unpopular among Sverdlovsk Yabloko members and residents of the region. “In Moscow they mistakenly believe that Evgeny Roizman has retained the same popularity rating that he had when he was nominated for mayor of Yekaterinburg four years ago.”
There is no statement available at this time.
Evgeniy Roizman also commented on the situation.
“We knew from the very beginning that this could happen, but no one said it would be easy. I am very pleased that Yavlinsky has again confirmed his reputation and keeps his word,” the party website quotes him as saying.
Yabloko is organizing a public fundraiser in Moscow for Yevgeny Roizman’s campaign. According to experts, he, as a popular regional leader, can compete with the acting governor of the Sverdlovsk region, Evgeny Kuvaishev, who was nominated by United Russia.
