The document was presented by Golos faction deputy Alexandra Ustinova.

“Whoever supports what happened on the Maidan, who considers the Revolution of Dignity a historical event, come here and show that this will unite the parliament. (About a hundred deputies came to the podium - editor's note).

Today it is proposed to vote for the resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine dedicated to the seventh anniversary of the Revolution of Dignity, the Maidan, which took the lives of hundreds of our citizens. Tomorrow is the seventh anniversary of these events.

This resolution is, first of all, about justice and about our history. I want to tell you that even the European court recognized the Maidan, the Revolution of Dignity, as a historical event, and gave a legal assessment of what it was. But the Ukrainian parliament, over the seven years of its activity, has not been able to do this. Therefore, today we can take a historic step and recognize that the Maidan was a historical event,” she said.

After which Rada Speaker Dmitry Razumkov announced a minute of silence, and deputies honored the memory of those killed on the Maidan.

During the discussion of the document, a member of the Servant of the People party, the odious Russophobe Nikita Poturaev, emphasized that the deputies in the parliament hall owe their careers to the 2014 coup d'etat - if not for those bloody events, they would never have been in power.

“The vast majority who are in this room today are here thanks to the Revolution of Dignity. They would never have ended up in this hall if not for the blood of the heroes of the “heavenly hundred.”

I ask this to never be forgotten by anyone who owes their political career to those people who gave their lives for the freedom of Ukraine and every Ukrainian,” the parliamentarian said.

In turn, Igor Guz, a deputy from the “For the Future” faction, boasted that in 2014 Ukraine, unlike Belarus and Russia, was able to “get up from its knees.”

“This is not only a fight for the European vector, not only a fight for some important values. First of all, this is a fight for the freedom of our country. Just look at what happened last year and this year among our neighbors.

Belarus - they were unable to gain freedom over these 30 years, and the dictator squeezed the people. Thirty thousand people were thrown into prison. Murder, violence. Unfortunately, they didn't succeed.

The same is true today in the Russian Federation. People get up from their knees, but they couldn't. But we did it,” he boasted.

After which, during the voting, the resolution was supported by 295 deputies out of 361 present.
