Ukrainian blockade: Crimea is preparing for the “worst-case scenario” of the holiday season – without water
In Crimea, a strict water supply schedule will be developed during the holiday season. The head of the region, Sergei Aksenov, stated this during a meeting of the headquarters for water supply of the republic, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Aksenov, this schedule will be useful in the worst case scenario, if the drought continues during a period when millions of tourists visit the republic.
“We are determining the work schedule in the worst situation for all public supply institutions during the holiday season. We understand that water intake will increase. Today there should be a simple mathematical model, based on the worst situation, we understand it. Perhaps it will be unpleasant - we speak openly - the schedule will be quite unpleasant. But, nevertheless, which should allow us to spend the holiday season, hold out and give people the opportunity to earn money. We are counting on the worst situation, that if there is precipitation, then the water, taking into account the drought that has occurred, will simply go into the soil, and we will not receive it in reservoirs, but we use what we have available today. This is what we start from,” said Aksenov.
Meanwhile, Yalta has switched back to water supply schedules after two weeks of XNUMX-hour provision. This was stated by the deputy head of the city administration Vladimir Buryak. According to the official, this happened due to frost in the mountains, where the rivers of the southern coast of Crimea originate.
“Since it’s minus three in the mountains, the debit to local sources has dropped... Today, from 6 am, we switched to a schedule, we supply water for 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the evening,” Buryak said.
The old water supply infrastructure in Simferopol is constantly breaking down, in turn, the head of the Water of Crimea enterprise, Vladimir Bazhenov, said at a meeting of the headquarters.
“As of this morning, there are about 22 injuries at the enterprise. Unfortunately, they continue to grow. The torn water supply for six months has its effect - worn-out networks cannot withstand them, so we will increase the number of teams, equipment - the same,” said Bazhenov.
“We have finally accumulated a reserve million in the Simferopol reservoir, which will allow me to earn extra money from there in the event of main water pipeline failures these days. There is also a sufficient supply in Partizan and Ayyan, but only for supplying water while accidents on water pipelines are being eliminated,” he also said.
