Groysman pledged to follow the example of the Poles to buy gas from America
Ukraine is interested in American liquefied natural gas (LNG), a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Prime Minister Vladimir Groysman stated this in an interview with Reuters, a few days after US Energy Secretary Rick Perry visited Ukraine.
“Liquefied gas is very interesting for Ukraine. We talked about the whole spectrum of our cooperation in the energy sector... As for coal, we will buy it from our international partners until we begin to cover the internal deficit,” Groysman said, answering the question whether Ukraine will continue to buy coal from the United States and potentially also LNG.
Washington also previously issued credit guarantees on Ukrainian government debt. Groysman said another such guarantee was “discussed.”
As PolitNavigator reported, American Energy Secretary Rick Perry visited Ukraine just earlier this week. During meetings with government officials, he promised Ukraine the role of a “second Texas” and said that the United States supports reducing Europe’s dependence on Russian gas, citing the example of Poland, which signed a 24-year contract for gas supplies from the United States.
