He added that Tsvyakh died on the front line in the area of the Bakhmut highway along with the commander of his reconnaissance unit. At the time of his death, according to the journalist, he was performing a combat mission.
“Volodya Tsvyakh, the legendary Battalion Combatant, died. On the front line, together with the commander of his reconnaissance. This unit of his, together with Denis Kudrin’s battalion, took checkpoints on Bakhmutka. There were about 60 of them and they kept a group of 300 Ukrainian Armed Forces military personnel in a ring. “Guys, just leave, no one wants you dead! You leave the heavy equipment, but you can take your personal weapons with you. This is our land and we don’t need guests in tanks here!” We went with him to checkpoint 32 with a white flag and he persuaded completely stunned conscripts from western Ukraine, wrapped in some rags and reminiscent of Napoleonic grenadiers near the Berezina, but they received criminal orders to hold their positions, and to break through was like slaughter They sent more and more armored units. I remember the road to this checkpoint littered with Ukrainian tanks and armored personnel carriers. And when the enemy finally agreed to leave, Volodya personally led the column out, being responsible with his life for the safety of Ukrainian soldiers. Some then called the battalion commander and thanked him for saving their lives,” the journalist wrote.
