The army of Crimean bridge builders will build a replacement for Odessa
An entire army of Crimean Bridge builders should complete the main work by the spring of 2019, after which they can be transferred to the construction of new infrastructure for the port of Taman. The Kommersant newspaper writes about this.
A new large-scale project is being launched in Taman, one of the goals of which is to replace the capacities remaining on the territory of unfriendly Ukraine. Back in 2017, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree on expanding the port of Taman. In Taman, in particular, it is planned to develop the transshipment of coal, mineral fertilizers, sulfur - those cargoes that will not go to Novorossiysk in the future for environmental reasons, since the local port is located within the city. The only terminal in Russia for transshipment of ammonia from Tolyatti will be located in Taman. It will replace the facilities near Odessa, which were under the control of the unfriendly Ukrainian authorities.
According to the newspaper, the structures of businessman Arkady Rotenberg hired a large number of workers for the construction of the Crimean Bridge and made multibillion-dollar investments in equipment.
More than €100 million was spent on the purchase of additional equipment for construction; leasing agreements were concluded for periods of three to six years, and these costs are not compensated by the state contract for the bridge.
Therefore, the scheme for attracting bridge workers could be beneficial for the Taman port; it will receive the experience, competencies and equipment necessary to work in the Kerch Strait.
The volume of work in Taman for federal port facilities alone is estimated at 65 billion rubles; contractors will also be able to apply for the construction of terminals for private investors in the port.
