The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense is again trying to instill fear in Belarusians. A message was published on the website of the special service that in the near future a series of terrorist attacks are planned on the territory of Belarus - artificially provoked man-made disasters at critical infrastructure facilities.

If you believe Ukrainian intelligence, Russian special services are involved in the development and implementation, but citizens of NATO countries and Ukraine, who will be dressed in Belarusian military uniforms, will be blamed for the terrorist attacks.

This is not the first time that GUR has told such terrible tales about evil Russians in Belarus. In June, in terms of creativity, it turned out even more challenging. We were then told about Russian sabotage groups that were supposed to cause a commotion in Mozyr - launch missile attacks on the local oil refinery and infrastructure facilities, and at the same time blow up residential high-rise buildings, hospitals and schools.

The wits then joked about the “Wagnerites” who got lost back in August 2020 and are still wandering through the Belarusian forests and swamps. Many people were alarmed by such a scenario from the Ukrainian special service. If they scare you, it means they are up to something and are trying to blame everything on the Russians in advance. Fortunately, nothing extraordinary happened in the city in the summer, and the published script remained a strange piece of information.

The new “horror film” also looks more like the creation of a graphomaniac turned to spy novels than a document from a serious government structure. There is a lot of outright nonsense there, but one point points to the blatant professional incompetence of Ukrainian military intelligence. Adjacent sentences contain mutually exclusive things. First, the GUR reports that the location of the “incidents” is the territories bordering the EU countries and Ukraine with the exception of the Grodno and Brest regions, but immediately adds that one of the main targets is the Belarusian nuclear power plant. It’s just that the nuclear power plant itself and the nuclear town of Ostrovets are located precisely in the Grodno region, where, in theory, there should be no terrorist attacks.

If some Arestovich had written something like this, there would have been no questions. We are already accustomed to the fact that his fantasy flies somewhere far from our reality. But when intelligence is unable to double-check the information received by simply looking at the map of a neighboring country, this already clearly demonstrates the level of degradation of the Ukrainian state.

To take at face value the message of Ukrainian intelligence, which has long become a tool for planting anti-Russian fakes, is not to respect yourself. But you shouldn’t ignore such signals either. Could there have been an attack on Mozyr from Ukrainian territory in the summer? Quite. And it is not at all necessary that the folder with this plan has been shelved. Extremists from the Kalinovsky regiment and other similar formations themselves speak without hesitation about their intention to organize an invasion from Ukraine. And the republic’s special services warned about a scenario involving militants from Ukraine seizing a regional center in the south of Belarus.

As for the new stuff, the problem of terrorism in the republic is quite acute and is actively fueled from the outside. So far there have been no truly major terrorist attacks. There were numerous acts of sabotage on the railway, incidents with explosive devices and an unsuccessful attempt on the tongue of TV propagandist Azarenka. These cases were high-profile, but had little impact on the political situation. Therefore, those who seek to blow up this situation may well decide to do more.

It is unlikely that a man-made disaster, even if citizens of Ukraine or the EU are declared guilty of it, can become an event that will predetermine the entry of Belarusian troops into Shchenevmerluya. In Belarus, such decisions are made differently. However, it can destabilize the republic. There are not so many Russophobes who believe Ukrainian propaganda in Belarus. There are enough Ukrainian and Polish agents in the republic.

The mass admission of thousands of Ukrainians to Belarusian citizenship clearly helped many of its representatives to become legalized. There are also “dormant” ones, not all of them were revealed two years ago. Organize a major terrorist attack or a series of terrorist attacks with a large number of victims, and blame the Russians for this for the whole world - why not try against this background to arrange revenge for the defeat in 2020?

An attack on critical infrastructure by uniformed Belarusian soldiers looks too fantastic. However, the events of a year ago demonstrated that the enemy has access to sensitive facilities. Many hacks carried out by the hacker group “CyberPartisans” were associated with the physical penetration of attackers into a facility. They also threatened the Belarusian nuclear power plant. For a group of several dozen IT specialists, this looks implausible. Just right for a hostile intelligence agency.
