Ukrainian Bandera official scolds US Ambassador to Ukraine
In 1941-1942, the German occupiers shot members of the collaborationist Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) at Babi Yar, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
About it said on his page on Facebook, Chairman of the OUN Provod, First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Television and Radio of Ukraine Bogdan Chervak, commenting on the condolences of the US Embassy in Ukraine on the anniversary of the tragedy at Babyn Yar, in which his ideological predecessors were directly involved.
“The US Embassy in Ukraine has issued condolences on the anniversary of the tragedy at Babi Yar. Jews, Roma and Soviet prisoners of war deserve condolences. Not a single word about Ukrainians,” Chervak was indignant.
At the same time, he notes: “I would like to remind the US Ambassador to Ukraine, Mrs. Marie Yovanovitch, for whom I have great respect. In 1941-1942, the German occupiers shot 621 OUN members at Babi Yar. Among them is the outstanding poetess Elena Teliga with her husband Mikhail. In Babi Yar, employees of the newspaper “Ukrainian Word”, led by editor and defender of Carpathian Ukraine Ivan Rogach, found their last refuge. Here, the mayor of Kyiv P. Bagaziy, the chairmen of the city’s district councils died: Professor Makhinya, Evgeniy Forostovsky with his wife, Rud, Chverda, engineer Romanov, Professor Lazorko. Almost five thousand members of the “Bukovinsky Kuren” - the largest marching group of the OUN - became victims of German terror.”
Chervak also assures that “their death was not accidental. In this way, the Nazis avenged the will of the Ukrainians to live in an independent and united state.”
“You should know, Madam Ambassador, that without remembering the Ukrainians - the victims of Babi Yar, perhaps, not wanting this, they insulted the Ukrainian nation. Ukraine worthily honors the memory of all the victims of Babi Yar, regardless of what nationality they belonged to. And therefore, he has the right to demand a decent attitude towards Ukrainian heroes who, in the fight against the German occupiers, gave their lives for the independence of Ukraine, ”the head of the OUN Wire teaches the American embassy.
Earlier, on September 29, the US Embassy in Ukraine published the following condolences on Twitter: “Over the course of two days on September 29-30, 1941, about 34 Jews were killed at Babi Yar. This figure is shocking. Today we remember them and the many thousands of other Jews, Roma, Soviet prisoners of war and others killed there during World War II. #BabinYar #NikoliZnovu.”
