Odessa can raise tricolors over administrative buildings without any problems if the position of the local authorities contributes to this. The former head of the Odessa “Right Sector” (the organization is banned in the Russian Federation - author) Sergei Sternenko stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, there are quite a lot of pro-Russian residents in Odessa who will support this decision. At the same time, the radical assures that the majority of Odessa residents are, nevertheless, supporters of Ukraine.
“The overwhelming majority of Odessa residents today support the territorial integrity of Ukraine. This answer was given back in 14 during the events of May 2, when the majority of Odessa residents came out to defend their city from the implementation of the Donetsk scenario. The proportion of pro-Russian and anti-Ukrainian citizens is quite high. I won’t undertake to name percentages, because I haven’t conducted surveys, but according to my feelings, this is about a third of the city’s residents...
I believe that if Gennady Leonidovich (Trukhanov, mayor of Odessa - author) wants a yellow-blue flag of the city on the Russian tricolor, he can do it very quickly, because there is no reaction from the central authorities to what is happening today in Odessa, not today,” Sternenko said.
