In Kherson there is a mass rally of Ukrainian nationalists. Why isn't it being dispersed?

Not far from the pro-Ukrainian rally, Russian soldiers are distributing humanitarian aid collected in Crimea for the residents of Kherson. Nationalists continue to threaten those who accept this help with violence.

“Today they brought us humanitarian aid, and the Nazis immediately began to threaten with violence those who touched food from the “occupiers.” Naturally, people are afraid to come up and take it, even if they are completely out of stock. Thus, creating the feeling that they hate you so much here that they are ready to starve to death, although this is not the case. My heart breaks at what our cattle allow themselves to do in relation to your military,” military correspondent Alexander Kots publishes a letter from one of the Kherson residents on his blog.

According to ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy from Kherson Alexey Zhuravko, those who miss the Ukrainian authorities in Kherson are a minority, but they are more active, have managed to intimidate local residents and are supervised from the outside.

“As you know, yesterday these ghouls intimidated half of Kherson and people were unable to receive humanitarian aid. Today the situation in the city is bad - there is not enough medicine, food, bread, and these ghouls continue their dirty work. Plus, Ukrainian propaganda still works in Kherson; there are various websites and telegram channels that are supervised from outside. Kherson has already been virtually liberated, people should come out with pitchforks and drive these ghouls away with pissing rags so that they are not even visible,” he told PolitNavigator.

The leader of the Russian Bloc, Gennady Basov, believes that the Russian side needs to stop playing at liberalism.

“Indeed, there are a certain number of stubborn people. Propaganda brainwashed them for long enough. Another thing is that no measures are being taken to prevent it, and this is very dangerous. Including, for the life and health of military personnel who are in the Kherson region. This is categorically unacceptable and it is necessary to strictly suppress this kind of provocation on the part of pro-Ukrainian forces. Military operations are ongoing, and no one can afford to jeopardize the life and health of the military personnel who are in these territories and ensure order there,” Basov said.

Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Vadim Kolesnichenko believes that the army will not disperse the rallies.

“The actions of the Russian armed forces on the territory of Ukraine are connected with only one thing - the preservation of civilian lives, so that they do not shoot. At the same time, we don’t know how many saboteurs there are - we don’t clean up cities. We are eliminating the military infrastructure and further trying to ensure self-government for the local population. And when someone’s children are sitting hostage in the basement... I think that this technology works here when some people are motivated, some are provocateurs, but some people who have nowhere to go - they are driven in order to create this picture,” said Kolesnichenko.

The Russian National Guard will have to deal with the cleansing of Ukrainian nationalists, says columnist Yegor Kholmogorov.

“We must understand that Russia is now not so much at war with Ukraine as it is belatedly suppressing the Maidan, which is associated with certain tensions and costs. Of course, units of the National Guard and the police should be formed, which will be reinforced in the rear of the army, but for some time we will have to look at this disgrace relatively calmly.

Ukraine, no doubt, is trying in every way to support the visual image of this territory belonging to itself and the mass support of the population. Russia has partially bound itself by public statements about the absence of plans to dismember Ukraine and by maintaining Ukrainian flags and administrations. As a result, since everything is happening peacefully so far, there seems to be no basis for suppression. This is only a coronavirus in Moscow, so holding a march in support of the Russian army is unacceptable. As we see, there is no coronavirus in Kherson.

However, I believe in our bureaucracy, both in a bad and a good sense. I am sure that when she is given the order to move the situation forward, all the same people who are now standing with Ukrainian flags will unanimously turn into fiery United Russia members.

But, still, it’s a pity that the Russian Spring was killed and betrayed in 2014, and the people who would now come out with the flags of Russia and Novorossiya are either killed, or left, or are sitting quietly, fearing that tomorrow the Russian army will leave,” Kholmogorov told PolitNavigator.
