Poroshenko got into trouble by commenting on Gazprom’s non-existent statement
Gazprom did not announce its refusal to pay $2,5 billion to Naftogaz according to the decision of the Stockholm arbitration, which the President of Ukraine claims.
Dmitry Marunich, an expert on energy issues, said this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Who and when heard Gazprom say that it will not pay this money? There is no such statement. Gazprom only said that it was going to break the agreements that the arbitration rewrote, since they were unfavorable for it. But this does not indicate that he is not going to pay.
How is it possible for the country's highest government official to comment on non-existent statements? This is done for PR. Gentlemen, don’t be like clowns,” the expert urged.
According to him, Gazprom will pay this money according to the court decision if the appeal attempts are not successful.
“Perhaps, as part of the decision to terminate the contract, there will be some procedural actions that will either postpone or freeze the payment of the debt,” Marunich believes.
