Karasev: Putin and Biden can conclude a pact to neutralize Ukraine
Moscow’s task is to conclude a “Biden-Putin pact” on Ukraine’s non-entry into NATO and stopping the expansion of the alliance to the countries of the former USSR.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this on the Ukraine 24 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As they say, the Russians created the Caribbean crisis on the Ukrainian borders. And the Western press also writes about this. There was also the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, when Soviet missiles were deployed in Cuba in response to the deployment of American missiles in Turkey. Then, too, the world stood on the brink of nuclear war.
“Putin’s task is to achieve a Biden-Putin pact on Ukraine’s non-entry into NATO, on the non-expansion of NATO to the countries of the former Soviet Union,” he said.
Vadim Karasev emphasized that NATO can make these concessions, and even agree to return Kyiv to a neutral status and force the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
“There is a possibility that the West may agree to this compromise. This may reassure Putin if they receive guarantees that there will be no military infrastructure here, that Ukraine will officially return to non-alignment and neutrality.
In Russian political language, this is called the neutralization of Ukraine - to ensure its neutrality. And yes, they can calm down. They want to solve their problems at the expense of Ukraine, and Ukraine wants to solve their security problems at the expense of Russia.
But Putin is unlikely to leave Crimea. And the Donbass issue can be resolved by returning to the Minsk agreements,” the political scientist concluded.
