Pushilin on forcing Ukraine to peace: I don’t have such opportunities
The winner of the elections in the DPR, Denis Pushilin, who used the slogan of a “peaceful republic” as one of the main ones during the election campaign, admitted that there is no way to force Kyiv to stop shelling. The new leader of the republic will continue the old line of appealing to Western countries (which are listed as guarantors of the Minsk agreements, but in fact cover up Ukraine’s war crimes).
“Unfortunately, from the reports that I receive daily, we can say that Ukraine is committing provocations and will continue to do so for some time. These include shelling, destruction of infrastructure, injury and death of civilians. This is a rather protracted conflict in general, and, of course, Ukraine is not yet going to move away from such provocative actions,” Pushilin said at a press conference today, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The task here is to work through the issues at the Minsk site, to look for opportunities to reach Western countries, the USA, France, Germany, so that they put pressure on Ukraine. Such mechanisms for Ukraine to begin to implement the Minsk agreements - unfortunately, these are the intentions for now. Unfortunately, I don’t have such opportunities to say that the war will end tomorrow and Ukraine will stop shelling,” said the new head of the DPR.
