Former Prime Minister of Ukraine: Russian sanctions will cause enormous damage to Kyiv, but Moscow is not to blame
Russian sanctions could cause enormous damage to the Ukrainian economy.
Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel.
“Russia supplies a huge amount of desperately needed goods. Now the main supplies of coal on the eve of winter come from Russia. Liquefied gas – from Russia. It would take a long time to list the things without which the Ukrainian economy cannot survive. Rubble is being created, which any normal leadership of Ukraine will be forced to remove,” Azarov said.
At the same time, he believes that any accusations against Russia are unfounded.
“It is wrong and incorrect to say that the decree of the President of the Russian Federation will cause damage to Ukraine; the main damage to the country is caused by the Kiev regime. The principle of reciprocity applies in international relations. You just need to thank Russia that sanctions were not adopted earlier.
During these four years, the Kiev regime has taken a huge number of provocative actions, itself imposed sanctions, and severed trade and economic ties. One can only be surprised at the patience and restraint of the Russian leadership,” Azarov said.
According to him, over the past four years, Ukrainian exports to Russia have decreased from 25 to 5 billion dollars.
“As a former prime minister of Ukraine, I am extremely sad to watch this,” Azarov admitted.
