Automaidan activist, volunteer of the so-called “ATO” Yuri Kasyanov writes about this on his Facebook page, noting that immediately after the Maidan and even a year or two later, “it was impossible to say or write such things,” but now “already you can begin to doubt, think and find the truth.”
The “peace offensive” on February 18 was planned and carried out extremely poorly. Or deliberately bad. The massacre in Mariinsky Park, Institutskaya, Shelkovichnaya was a direct consequence of the miscalculations of the “scene leaders” of the Maidan, who led unarmed people through security barriers. After the defeat of hundreds of Maidan protesters on Instytutskaya, defeat on Grusha was predetermined.
It was a losing battle from the very beginning. The Maidan came out from behind the barricades, stretched out like a helpless ribbon on the streets, fragmented and lost its strength. Those who planned this “offensive” could not count on victory, but only on blood and horror as a way of putting pressure on the authorities,” emphasizes a participant in those events.
According to him, late in the evening of February 18, it became clear that the Maidan in this form would not last long.
“People were incredibly tired, the barricades were broken. The security forces had a tactical advantage, but were also exhausted. The first shots from the Conservatory in the early morning of February 20 tipped the scales.
The unarmed security forces retreated. The “black” golden eagle opened fire in response, and at those who tried to move further into the government quarter... At the same time, mysterious snipers began to shoot accurately at the protesters and at the security forces. The offensive was drowned in blood. The sacred sacrifice was made. The rebel slaves are pacified by the horror of numerous deaths,” writes Kasyanov.
