“I won’t envy you in 2017,” the Ukrainian ambassador recounted conversations with EU officials
Representatives of the European Union countries openly warn Ukraine about the big problems that Kyiv will face in 2017 due to the changing international situation. The permanent representative of Ukraine to the Council of Europe, Dmitry Kuleba, writes about this in his blog.
In response, the Ukrainian official only had to laugh it off and refer to the optimism that, according to him, has reigned in Kyiv since 2014.

“You come to a diplomatic reception. You don't touch anyone. You can’t even touch a glass of wine, just like an alcoholic diet. And here is a representative of a developed democracy, full of sympathy, taking the initiative for you:
– I won’t envy you in 2017. Trump is already o-la-la. The elections are there. The elections are here. Putin friends. EU – believe bad times. Well, hang in there. Go-go reforms. We are with you. Values, principles of Forex.
I listened politely. I say:
– Diar colleg, we didn’t envy ourselves back in 2014. And nothing. Senk u, vi ar fain. We will fight on our fronts. And you don’t forget the words of the general and part-time President Eisenhower: “Pessimism has not won a single battle.”
They parted ways, satisfied with each other. Almost Euro-optimists. I'll have to have a drink with him. When an alcoholic diet is kaput,” writes Kuleba.
