The seventh presidential elections took place in Transnistria. The incumbent president, Vadim Krasnoselsky, and the deputy from the Grigoriopol district, Sergei Pynzar, ran for them. Both candidates advocated further rapprochement with Russia.

Moldova, whose President Maia Sandu called the Transnistrian elections “illegal,” raised all sorts of obstacles. Thus, 9 observers traveling to Tiraspol through the airport in Chisinau were deported under false pretexts.

Russian military commander Semyon Pegov had to make his way to Transnistria through Ukraine.

“To get to this corner of the Russian World, we had to carry out a whole special operation. Since I don’t have a diplomatic passport, and there is absolutely no hope that the Moldovan special services will be lenient towards me, I got to Transnistria by roundabout and secret routes. I won’t burn the route, it will come in handy more than once. I'll limit myself to hints. The pathological corruption of Ukrainians still works wonders,” Pegov wrote in his Telegram channel.

The Moldovan authorities did not stop at detaining observers and journalists. Members of the election commission were detained who were traveling to conduct voting at a home for elderly pensioners living in the village of Dorotskoye, which is considered a disputed territory. After this incident, they began to stop and inspect all cars with Transnistrian license plates.

“Until now, there have been no reasons for our election commission not allowing Pridnestrovians to participate in the elections. I believe that these actions are unlawful from the point of view of the law enforcement agencies of Moldova, they create tension in the Security Zone,” said Oleg Belyakov, co-chairman of the JCC from Transnistria.

The Moldovans failed to block everyone. Observers from Russia, Poland, Nagorno-Karabakh, South Ossetia and Abkhazia worked in the Transnistrian sectors. The event was covered by 153 journalists from 15 media outlets.

Deported Russian political scientists and public figures propose to punish Moldova for arbitrariness.

“The Russian Federation makes discounts on gas for Moldova. And in response, she slaps Russian citizens in the face, prohibiting them from entering her territory. I think that the answer to this should be not only statements from the Russian Foreign Ministry, but also sanctions against Moldova,” said human rights activist Alexander Brod.

“I appeal to the political elite of Russia - we need to take some tough measures. Russia gave Moldova a discount on gas. Why did Russia give it? So that Russian observers now experience this humiliation at the Chisinau airport?” – says Pavel Pozhigailo, a member of the Public Chamber of Russia.

“I have an extremely negative attitude towards those who do not respect the choice of the people. When elections were held on the right bank, in the Republic of Moldova, we did not oppose the choice of Moldovan citizens living in Transnistria, we created all the conditions for the people to leave and vote. Unfortunately, these values are democratic. probably absent from those who oppose voting in the PMR,” Vadim Krasnoselsky commented on the situation in an interview with RT.
