Sevastopol, March 01 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Kononov) – In Sevastopol, by a government decree on Saturday, Sevmorzavod and its satellite enterprises, which were previously under the control of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, were transferred into the ownership of the city. In Soviet times, the complex was used to repair ships of the Black Sea Fleet, build powerful floating cranes, etc.

This resolution was adopted at a special government meeting late in the evening. According to Sevastopol Governor Sergei Menyailo, an incorrect situation has developed in the city, in which the state was forced to prove its ownership of state-owned facilities to those who themselves obtained this ownership illegally.

“Why do we have to prove that we are right to those who received this property, in general, illegally? Why didn’t we take the path of having them prove the legality of receiving this property? All the property that was located in Sevastopol was Sevastopol, state-owned,” Menyailo said.

At the same time, according to him, “a candidacy is being considered” for the position of director of Sevmorzavod.

“Tomorrow an inventory of all property will begin. Starting Monday, the enterprise will begin registration - already a state unitary Sevmorzavod. I have already notified the relevant structures, and we will do everything to revive this Severmorzavod. Today you just need to go there and understand what is going on there - what kind of contractual relations, what was rented to whom, whose property, what was stolen, what was not. What can you do there? We haven’t carried out an inventory before, but we generally know the situation,” the governor said.

Simultaneously with this decision, a decision was also made to nationalize the Radio Communications Design Bureau. At the same time, the government planned to nationalize another 33 enterprises on that day “to restore social justice and ensure the uninterrupted functioning of enterprises of strategic importance for Sevastopol,” as stated in the government’s official appeal to the Legislative Assembly.

At the same time, the list of enterprises included such as the Balaklava Mining Administration, owned by Verkhovna Rada deputy Vadim Novinsky, Sevastopolgaz PJSC, the Sevastopol Fish Canning Plant, the Inkerman Vintage Wine Factory and other large enterprises. However, the deputies did not support this initiative, citing the fact that in Russian legislation there is no such thing as nationalization at all.

Let us note that the head of the Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol, Alexei Chaly, previously criticized the experience of the neighboring Republic of Crimea, where several times more enterprises were subject to nationalization. Chaly said that nationalization scares away investors.
