This week, a regular meeting of participants in the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict in the “5+2” format was held in Vienna. The meeting was informal and no statements were made at the end.
“The leaders of Transnistria are committed to dialogue,” the publication writes. “They are being pushed towards negotiations by the economic situation in the unrecognized republic, aggravated by the economic blockade from Ukraine and Moldova. The transit of goods to Transnistria through Ukraine has halved, trade turnover with the neighboring country in the first quarter of this year decreased by 54 percent compared to the same period last year. Transnistria is about to lose its largest markets.”
