The Ukrainian parliament must amend the Constitution of Ukraine and decide on the autonomy of the Crimean Tatars.

This was stated by Deputy General Director of the pro-Mejlis TV channel ATR Aider Muzhdabaev, whom cited "Independent newspaper".
“The Mejlis is the elected body of the Crimean Tatars. He has already adopted a number of resolutions, they are all ready. And the Verkhovna Rada only needs to accept the Mejlis’s proposal on national autonomy, make changes to the Constitution - and that’s it! The people have a representative body, they voted for autonomy within Ukraine, the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada introduced this into the Constitution, the president signed it... Who, what country will be able to at least someday protest this right of the indigenous people? Nobody ever!” said Muzhdabaev.
At the same time, the publication, citing its own sources in the Rada, notes that there are forces in the Ukrainian parliament that are ready to support such decisions.
“But there are also those who fear that the decision on Crimea could lead to a worsening of relations with both Russia and the West. Some deputies, according to sources, doubt that the Crimean Tatars will retain Crimea as part of Ukraine,” NG points out.
