The Armed Forces of Ukraine disown Pashinsky’s shoddy mortar
The M120-15 “Hammer” mortar, produced by a company close to People’s Deputy from the “People’s Front” Sergei Pashinsky, was not adopted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and its operation was allowed by the General Staff for a special period. Now its use has been suspended, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the Central Missile and Artillery Directorate of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“The 120 mm mortar M120-15 “Molot” was not accepted into service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In 2015, the 120 mm M120-15 “Molot” mortar passed the defining departmental tests and, by order of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine dated November 17.11.2015, 446 No. XNUMX, was approved for use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine for a special period,” the statement says.
The Central Missile and Artillery Directorate said that the use of Molot mortars in exercises is prohibited during the investigation of the incident that occurred at the Rivne training ground.
According to their information, the Ukrainian Armed Forces recorded nine cases of explosion of 120 mm M120-15 “Molot” mortars, as a result of which 32 military personnel were wounded and 12 military personnel were killed.
Let us recall that on July 6, during military exercises at the Rivne training ground, three soldiers of the 15th separate mountain infantry battalion, which is part of the 128th separate mountain infantry brigade and is based in Uzhgorod, were killed as a result of a mortar explosion. Nine more soldiers were wounded.
Upon the fact of a mortar explosion on the territory of the 233rd Rivne training ground, the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise was assigned a comprehensive commission of forensic-military, investigative, chemical, ballistic and explosives examinations.
In November, the Military Prosecutor's Office of the Central Region announced an interim conclusion regarding the explosion of the Molot mortar at the Rivne training ground. According to this conclusion, no objective data have been received about the inadequate quality of these mortars.
