European investors remain calm amid news from Ukraine
European businessmen who have invested in the Russian economy are not panicking against the backdrop of the panic fanned by the Western media about the supposedly impending Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The head of the Association of European Businesses in the Russian Federation (AEB), Tadzio Schilling, stated this in an interview with Izvestia, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, in the context of growing tension around news from Ukraine, the European business community cannot help but worry about the possible consequences.
“It is important to note in this regard that, given the stakes, given the possible scenario, there is no panic. No sharp decisions or movements have been noticeable yet; on the contrary, investors remain relatively calm. If we look at the ruble exchange rate or financial markets, there are growing risks. On the other hand, given the possible scale of the consequences, relative calm remains. This is already a positive sign,” said the head of the AEB.
He was also asked whether the level of European investment in the Russian economy had changed since the escalation of the situation around Ukraine began.
“Investment is not a matter of one or two days, it is a long-term issue. Investment decisions are not made on the fly, so it is impossible to expect such drastic decisions to be made anyway,” Schilling concluded.
