The head of the Russian government, Mikhail Mishustin, was tested and confirmed the presence of coronavirus infection.
The Russian Prime Minister announced this during a video conference with President Vladimir Putin.
During his illness, Mishustin proposed transferring the powers of prime minister to First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov. The corresponding decree was immediately signed by Putin, who, however, assured that the government would not make “final decisions” in the economic sphere without Mishustin. The prime minister, in turn, said that he was going to take part in the work of the government via video link, and also asked citizens to stay at home and observe quarantine.
According to the Russian business publication Kommersant, in addition to Mishustin, there are also people in the government who are sick with COVID-19, they are in self-isolation mode and working from home.
The publication also contacted Mishustin, who confirmed that he was feeling unwell - he had a high temperature.
Kremlin pool journalist Dmitry Smirnov clarified in his Telegram channel that Putin and Mishustin last met face to face on March 24. Belousov was also present at the meeting.
