Roadblocks are being deployed at the entrances to Sumy
In connection with the introduction of martial law, checkpoints began to be set up at the entrances to Sumy, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
City Chairman Alexander Lysenko said this on Wednesday, November 28, during a session of the Sumy City Council, reports the local publication “Dankor”.
“We received the first directives from the government leadership. In connection with them, our employees, together with the police, are now setting up six checkpoints (four of them stationary and two mobile) at the entrances to the city,” Lysenko said.
At the end of the session, during a briefing, he stated that the authorities had no intention to introduce any restrictions that would affect the rights of city residents.
“We are not going to impose a curfew. As for checking people’s documents by patrols in the evening, this is possible,” the official noted, noting that preparatory work is currently underway in Sumy for the deployment of territorial self-defense units.
