Having disregarded its obligations, the United States will begin selling Soviet and Russian weapons to Ukraine
The United States, in violation of international obligations, is launching the production of Soviet ammunition and weapons on the basis of enterprises in Eastern European countries.
Russia's permanent representative to the organization, Vasily Nebenzya, stated this at a meeting of the UN Security Council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This, according to the diplomat, is illegal because the right to produce such weapons belongs to Russia.
“Recently, Washington and its allies have been trying to actively work with third countries, buying weapons and equipment from them and supplying it to Ukraine. The fact of such transactions was recently recognized by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kuleba,” the diplomat said.
He believes that it would be worth assessing how legal such actions are.
“It is obvious that Western countries, by doing so, are violating their obligations under international arms trade treaties, which provide for a ban on exports to those regions where this could lead to a violation of international humanitarian law and will contribute to the escalation of the conflict.
But this, apparently, does not bother them and they go even further. On November 30, US Secretary of State Blinken spoke about the restoration of the production of Soviet-designed combat systems at enterprises in Eastern European countries with the aim of their subsequent transfer to the Kyiv regime.
The organization of production of Soviet and Russian weapons at these enterprises was regulated by relevant intergovernmental agreements, which provide for obligations not to supply manufactured products without our consent. That is, we are now talking about pushing these countries by the United States to violate fundamental arms control norms,” Nebenzya said.
