As the department stated, one person was killed as a result of shelling of a minibus transporting Ukrainian security forces wounded in the battle near Slavyansk in the area between the Slavyansk and Dolyna checkpoints.
Despite the fact that the bus was armored, an Interior Ministry officer who was part of the escort group was killed during the shelling, but the death of the remaining passengers was avoided.
According to the head of the National Guard Stepan Poltorak, the ATO forces are confronted by a well-trained and armed enemy. He also called on those who criticize the ATO to each “mind their own business.” “I tell both politicians and everyone else: there is no need to split hairs, we need to help,” he emphasized. “At least provide moral support.”
“At least provide the entire army with body armor,” added Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, who was present during the conversation, clarifying that the army needs about 10 thousand body armor.
