Ukrainian Maidan politician Taras Stetskiv stated this in an interview with the Kyiv publication “Apostrophe”.
“People are more disappointed with the policies of the president and the executive branch, and only then with the parliament. I think we again have the same situation as after the Orange Revolution, when huge expectations were replaced by huge disappointments from unrealized opportunities. Unfortunately, it must be admitted that two years after the victory of the “Revolution of Dignity” and the flight of Viktor Yanukovych, little has been achieved from what was promised on the Maidan and what people really expected,” he said.
At the same time, Stetskiv admitted that the only issue that interests him very much is amending the Constitution, especially regarding the status of Donbass. In his opinion, such a scenario is unrealistic.
“We won’t get 300 votes in parliament for the so-called special status of Donbass. And President Poroshenko, in my opinion, made a very big mistake when he combined the demands of Russia for decentralization and the West for granting special status to Donbass. I think that most likely it will not be possible to make changes to the Constitution in terms of special status. True, the last vote for changes to the Constitution regarding the so-called justice reform changed the situation. The deputies who voted for these changes made a very big mistake, because they gave a very good argument to our enemies to now demand that we make changes regarding the special status,” he believes.
At the same time, Taras Stetskiv sees a much greater danger for Maidan Ukraine in the fact that the Rada, without amending the Constitution, will try to pass a law on elections in the uncontrolled part of Donbass.
“This kind of law requires not 300 votes, but 226, and here our comrades from the BPP can be greatly helped by deputies from the “Opposition” or “Occupation Bloc” from the former “regionals” who settled in the “Renaissance” and “Power of the People” groups., - the politician complains.
