"Russian Bloc" asks the Council of Judges of Russia to check Basov's sentence
The “Russian Bloc” appealed to the Council of Judges of Russia with a request to check the sentence of the organization’s leader Gennady Basov, who has been behind bars for more than two years on charges of attempted fraud and corruption. The politician’s associates believe that he became a victim of provocation after he tried to eliminate the “black” schemes formed in Ukrainian times in the funeral services market of Sevastopol.

“In Sevastopol on September 29, 2015, a well-known public figure, chairman of the Russian Bloc party banned in Ukraine, G.A. Basov, was detained and charged with corruption crimes.
Initially, Basov was accused of not interfering with the legitimate business of entrepreneurs who were direct competitors of GUPS. It follows from the indictment that Basov G.A. did not fulfill the duties assigned to him by the state to destroy business in the city, for these reasons he was accused of corruption crimes under four articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
After a series of trials, the appellate court overturned the district court’s verdict, and now Basov has been declared a fraudster in the absence of victims, damages and statements about his allegedly fraudulent actions. Such absurd accusations arose only because the persons who ordered and falsified the criminal case were confident in absolute impunity and mutual responsibility, flourishing in the city, allowing them to fabricate criminal cases,” the text of the Russian Bloc’s appeal says.
The authors of the document list numerous examples that, in their opinion, indicate provocation of a bribe, as well as fabrication of charges against Basov.
According to members of the “Russian Bloc”, we are talking about “the illegal conviction of a person under particularly serious articles of the Criminal Code.”
“We ask you to conduct an investigation into this criminal case and, based on its results, to give a legal assessment,” the authors of the document address the Council of Judges of the Russian Federation.
