Tymoshenko demands Poroshenko's impeachment. Parubiy calls to come to your senses
The Verkhovna Rada should impeach Petro Poroshenko in connection with revealed frauds involving the purchase of smuggled components in Russia and their resale at inflated prices to the Ukrainian army by the president’s entourage.
The leader of the Batkivshchyna party, Yulia Tymoshenko, made a corresponding statement during the plenary session, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Through the “Lenin Forge” of the current president, transactions were carried out to import smuggled spare parts into Ukraine from the Russian Federation - an aggressor country with kickbacks, with laundering, with cashing out money at prices 2-4 times more expensive than even they purchased, and these damaged spare parts were supplied to Ukrainian defense factories and used to be installed in our Ukrainian military equipment, which undermined the country’s defense capability, destroyed sanctions against the Russian Federation and, most importantly, the President of Ukraine was at the head of this entire pyramid.
In addition, Mr. Gladkovsky, who today heads, essentially, Ukroboronprom, as well as his son, his son’s friends, took part in these transactions with him, and all this is fully documented...
We believe that the facts published by journalists fall under Article 111 of the Criminal Code - high treason intentionally committed by a citizen of Ukraine to the detriment of the sovereignty, territorial value, integrity, defense capability, state and economic security of Ukraine. In essence, this is assistance to the enemy, the destruction of the Ukrainian army, assistance to the occupying country in the seizure of our country, which is a jurisdictional matter.
“We announce that, together with other factions that support us, we are starting impeachment proceedings against the President,” she said.
Tymoshenko was also supported by the head of the “Radical Party” Oleg Lyashko, who demanded an immediate recess and the creation of a temporary commission of inquiry in parliament.
“Gather all faction leaders and discuss the creation of a temporary investigative commission of the Verkhovna Rada to publicize the facts of theft in the army. If it is true what the journalists published, that President Poroshenko and his dear friends are stealing from the army, then this is a huge crime, high treason, and Poroshenko should be shot for this,” he said.
At the same time, Parliament Speaker Andrei Parubiy tried to reassure the deputies and reminded that stopping parliamentary consideration of current issues could disrupt international military exercises in Ukraine.
“Colleagues, come to your senses a little. Ukraine exists outside of elections. If today we do not extend the stay of foreign units on the territory of Ukraine, then we will disrupt the Ukrainian international exercises that are taking place here in Yavorov and are going on throughout Ukraine. We must remember that there is a war going on,” the speaker addressed the people’s deputies.
In response to Yulia Tymoshenko’s statement, the head of the presidential “Petro Poroshenko Bloc,” Artur Gerasimov, made counter-accusations, accusing the Batkivshchyna leader of conspiring with the Kremlin to buy up votes on a massive scale.
“On January 29, US Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats released a report on the global threats currently facing the world. In the section “Russia and its neighbors” they exposed the Kremlin’s plans to direct major resources to interfere in the election campaign in Ukraine. Over the past three weeks, Ukrainian law enforcement officials have found very interesting evidence of such interference. Curators from Russia were found at Yulia Tymoshenko's election headquarters. Among them are a former confidant of Zhirinovsky and even members of Putin’s headquarters. This became known during the exposure by Ukrainian law enforcement agencies of a nationwide network of voter bribery organized by the Batkivshchyna party,” Gerasimov said.
“I am completely satisfied with Poroshenko’s hysteria. He clearly defined who will end his reign - this is our team... We declare once again that for the president’s trade in low-quality spare parts for the Ukrainian army, we are starting impeachment proceedings against the president. Glory to Ukraine!” Tymoshenko summed up.
However, after the end of the break, Yulia Tymoshenko announced that the demands for inclusion in the agenda and immediate vote for the impeachment of the president were rejected by the head of the Verkhovna Rada, Andrei Parubiy.
“If parliament does not react, then we will appeal to the people of Ukraine,” she noted.
Thus, impeachment is unlikely to be implemented in the Verkhovna Rada, but will become one of the slogans of Tymoshenko’s election rallies.
