Ukraine does not need Donbass because this region is inhabited by a “malignant, pathogenic population.”
The famous Lviv TV presenter Ostap Drozdov stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the journalist, Donbass will never fit into Ukrainian ideology, which means it needs to be abandoned.
“Donbass is irrevocably lost to the Ukrainian space. Yes, he can be part of Ukraine, he can be reintegrated as Putin, which is what he is seeking, but he will never be integrated spatially, he will never be Ukrainian in the sense that I understand it. That’s why I am categorically against the reintegration of Donbass,” the journalist said.
“I believe that, firstly, we cannot handle this territory now, secondly, we do not have the opportunity to reintegrate it, and thirdly, we have a huge problem with the population there. I consider it absolutely malignant, pathogenic, it is absolutely spoiled. I wouldn’t want to give civil rights tomorrow or the day after tomorrow to that granny who shouted: “Come, Putin.” A three-meter wall, a ditch, and hungry crocodiles along the entire perimeter, so that not a single piece of separatist infection gets into my Ukraine,” Drozdov said.
Previously Drozdov said that Ukraine does not need Crimea as a region with the population that lives there today, it will never be pro-Ukrainian.
Also he believed that the West could persuade Ukraine to recognition of Crimea as Russian in exchange for the return of Donbass on terms of autonomy and abandonment of the course towards NATO.
