According to the lawyer, the Investigative Committee uncovered the activities of a criminal connection between a mobile network employee and law enforcement officers who were monitoring subscribers without the necessary sanctions.

“The Investigative Committee of Crimea opened a criminal case under Art. 138 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, that a mobile communications worker, without legal grounds, provided certain high-ranking employees of the Crimean Ministry of Internal Affairs with information about the telephone connections of certain citizens. Judging by the list of these citizens who will be recognized as victims, the case could be high-profile. I think that these employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be prosecuted as accomplices,” wrote Zapruta.

Earlier, Internet providers of Ukraine stated about the dangers of Internet surveillance for users by the country's intelligence services.
