The West can even block push-button “granny phones” in Russia
Western companies will block all mobile communications in Russia as soon as they receive orders from their governments.
IT entrepreneur Igor Ashmanov stated this in an interview with RTVI TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“To say that Google or Apple will decide something themselves is, of course, ridiculous. Why block smartphones? To strike at our digital infrastructure. This is our direct enemy. He can turn off our smartphones. The smartphone provides the cell station with an encryption certificate for voice communications and access to mobile data. These certificates are also produced in the West. That is, it’s very easy to turn off communications so that not only smartphones, but also push-button granny phones stop finding the network,” said Ashmanov.
He believes that the West will decide to block communications in Russia in two cases: the triumphant offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Maidan in Moscow.
“We are not ready for this, but no one will do this. This will be done if either some kind of enchanting offensive begins in Ukraine in order to help him with the opportunity to send some new long-range drones with a large supply of explosives to Russian territory, or if we have a Maidan prepared here, a fairly massive protest. Then turn off smartphones throughout the country, adding panic and leaving contact to those who organize the Maidan, this will be done. You can do such a thing once,” said Ashmanov.
He recalled that a similar situation in the Russian banking sector was overcome, although Visa and MasterCard blocked the law on the national payment card system for 7 years. But after they were ordered to block Russian banks, the State Duma quickly accepted it. Now, according to the expert, the Russian authorities are experiencing “a teenage girl’s barrier of consciousness that this cannot happen, they cannot turn it off.”
