Avakov promises amnesty to supporters of the LPR and DPR. But not everyone
Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov believes that criminal prosecution should be applied to the leadership of the LPR and DPR, members of the people's militia of the republics, as well as to those individuals who have committed serious crimes. For the rest, after the “de-occupation” an amnesty should be applied, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
About this he wrote on his Facebook page.
“Criminal prosecution should be applied only to the leadership of the DPR and LPR, persons who fought against the Ukrainian army and the National Guard, and those who committed serious crimes. The majority survived the occupation - victims or forced participants in collaboration processes, for whom an amnesty should be applied, with the consistent restoration of all civil rights and freedoms,” he said.
Avakov reassures: in no case should there be talk of “cleansing” or repressions against the civilian population.
“If a person for some reason was unable to leave and survived the occupation in his home, continued to work in his specialty, did not participate in organizing illegal elections or other actions, did not contribute to the activities of the illegal government - he is checked and receives a new legitimate Ukrainian passport and all the rights of a citizen of Ukraine,” the minister noted.
Avakov is convinced that only those “whose hands are stained with the blood of civilians and Ukrainian soldiers, who headed illegal government bodies, organized illegal referendums and elections, participated in pogroms, robberies, and committed criminal offenses” should be subject to criminal prosecution.”
The minister believes that this should be the position of the state and this principle should form the basis of the entire complex process of reintegration of the uncontrolled territories of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
Earlier, Petro Poroshenko announced the appearance of a law on “collaborators” in Ukraine.
