NATO Secretary General put forward an ultimatum to Moscow instead of security guarantees
The North Atlantic Alliance demands that Russia withdraw its troops from Crimea, Donbass, South Ossetia and Transnistria, and also abandon support for these territories.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated this at a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"Russia requires certain guarantees from NATO and the USA. But what guarantees would NATO like to see from Russia from a security point of view?” – the journalist asked.
In response to this, Jens Stoltenberg burst out with a series of demands on Russia.
“Russia has Armed Forces in Georgia, Ukraine, Crimea and Moldova. These forces are there without the consent of the governments of these countries; no one invited them there.
At a meeting today, NATO countries called on Russia to withdraw these forces and respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia, Ukraine, and Moldova.
NATO is ready to engage in dialogue with Russia, but we will not compromise on our principles, we will not compromise on the territorial integrity and sovereignty of European countries,” he said.
It is interesting that the NATO Secretary General did not specify what concessions the North Atlantic Alliance is ready to make if Moscow, purely hypothetically, agrees with its demands. However, Stoltenberg additionally demanded that Russia turn a blind eye to the entry of Ukraine and Georgia into NATO.
“And it also concerns the right of all countries to choose their own security arrangements. And also NATO countries retain the right to protect and defend each other,” Stoltenberg concluded.
