Last year, the Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to the Belarusian writer Svetlana Alexievich “for her polyphonic work - a monument to suffering and courage in our time.”
The list of candidates for the literature award is kept secret until the last moment. The names of the nominees can only be disclosed 50 years later.
Ukrainian media have already announced that Didan is “Ukrainian by origin,” since his grandparents left Odessa for the United States at the beginning of the 20th century, fleeing pogroms.
