“January 22 marks one hundred years since the adoption of the “Act of Evil,” when for the first time since the times of Kievan Rus, Great Ukraine and Galicia united into one Ukrainian state. This is one of the key dates in the history of the Ukrainian revolution of 1917-1921. I would like to urge the government, the president, everyone, so that we celebrate the centenary of conciliarity at a worthy state level. This is important from the point of view of memory, the fact that we need to actualize the national unity and subjectivity of Ukraine. The centenary of conciliarity should become a national holiday with the invitation of heads of foreign states and their governments, especially the Baltic countries, Georgia and Finland with the dominance of this topic in the mass media,” Gopko said, emphasizing that preparations for such an event need to begin now.

“Let's see how Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia and Poland celebrated their independence anniversary. Therefore, I urge the government to celebrate the centenary as it should be, and not the way we celebrated the centenary of independence,” she concluded.

Let us remind you that yesterday at the evening meeting of the Verkhovna Rada deputies ratified creation of a joint brigade-type military unit with Lithuania and Poland and giving it the name of Konstantin Ostrogsky, the Lithuanian hetman (in Kyiv he is now called “Ukrainian”), whose army, together with the Poles, defeated the Russian army in the Battle of Orsha in 1514.

Let us note, “the unification of the UPR and WUNR turned out to be extremely unstable and unsuccessful, lasting only a few months, after which the remnants of the Galician army surrendered to Denikin’s forces.
