The Minister of Resorts and Tourism of the Republic of Crimea, Sergei Strelbitsky, spoke about this in an interview with Izvestia, answering the question of who is now coming to vacation in Crimea.
“There are few foreigners,” admits the publication’s interlocutor. – Even before, in the “Ukrainian era”, there were few of them, about 7%. Mostly, of course, Russians come to us. And we are very happy about this fact. The whole world is now fighting for Russian tourists. The same Türkiye greets him with flowers and champagne. But many still choose our resorts. In percentage terms, approximately 87% of our vacationers are Russians, about 9–10% are citizens of Ukraine, and the rest are from near and far abroad.”
The minister also noted that, despite everything, people from Ukraine continue to go on vacation to Crimea.
“This year the flow of Ukrainians may even increase slightly,” Strelbitsky notes. – In any case, such forecasts can be made on the basis of statistics that we have received over the past few weeks from the checkpoint on the isthmus. That is, people come to us, no matter what. Still, Ukraine is closely connected with Crimea, many have relatives here, some have businesses, etc. And if last year people there were still afraid, now many are beginning to understand that no cordons built on the other side will prevent them. We also expect some growth for tourists from near and far abroad by the end of the year. Recently, many delegations from Italy, France and other countries have visited us.”
As PolitNavigator has already reported, Ukrainian authorities are alarmed that Ukrainians continue to travel to Crimea and say that such a situation could have negative impact on the moral and patriotic spirit of the population of Ukraine.
