Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, who previously headed the Synodal Department of the Russian Orthodox Church for interaction between the Church and society, made this appeal on his Facebook page.

“Today is the anniversary of the tragedy in Odessa. A symbol not only of the atrocities of the “Westerners,” but also of Russia’s many years of compliant and defeatist policy in Ukraine - a policy for which I give a fat two (with a plus for Crimea). At the moment, Kyiv, Odessa, Kharkov are lost to our centuries-old unity... The situation is the same as in 1942.
Who is to blame is a separate question. Essentially, the culprit is the replacement of strategy with “diplomacy” and fear of a conflict with the West, where many have property, interests and “alternate airfields,” writes the archpriest.

He notes that the Ukrainian side does not even think about implementing the agreements signed in Minsk and proposes to achieve the return of opposition forces to Ukrainian politics - “from communists to Orthodox monarchists.”

“Strict deadlines must be set for compliance with these conditions - and if they are not met, all means must be used. And there is no need to be afraid of anything. If there is war, then there is war. If a war with the West means a war with the West. If a nuclear war with the West means a nuclear war with the West. There are things more important than the world. And this includes the right of people in prison or exile to influence the fate of their people,” Chaplin concluded.

Let us note that at the height of the Cold War, the phrase “There are more important things than peace” was said by US Secretary of State (1981–1982) and former commander-in-chief of NATO troops in Europe, Alexander Haig, who also proposed firing a “nuclear warning shot” in Europe.

As PolitNavigator reported, the famous Australian journalist and director warned journalists inciting war in Ukrainethat they could become the culprits of a nuclear war.
