Russia admits the failure of the Superjet 100 project
Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that new Russian aircraft are being developed and put into operation for too long - entire years.
It is necessary to take an example from the designers of the Great Patriotic War, the head of the upper house of parliament suggested at a meeting with the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Evgeny Dietrich, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Matvienko described the bureaucratic procedure for creating an aircraft, as a result of which the launch of new machines on the line occurs no earlier than 15 years later.
“I call the Minister of Industry, and he says that he can’t do anything because he needs an application from the Ministry of Transport. I called Sokolov, and he said: “We cannot make an application because there are no planes.” It turns out that this is a cross situation. Then I say: “So here they are, ready, Ministry of Transport, you develop regional aircraft, we are a huge country.” To which we receive the answer that they are starting design. In short, in 15 years everything will be,” said Matvienko.
She recalled how the aviation industry worked during the Second World War.
“Wait, how during the war years an aviation enterprise was relocated in three months, and a month later it was producing I don’t know how many planes a day. We are a great aviation country, schools, fortunately, have not been lost, so isn’t it possible to develop regional aircraft? They made this Superjet 100, but who needs it? It's not good for regional, it's not good for anything. Aeroflot says that they bought it and are standing on board. Abroad - no one buys. The plane is actually 80% foreign, ours is only hardware. So, what have we achieved?” asked the Speaker of the Federation Council.
