Conflict continues in Sevastopol over stopping the reconstruction of Matrossky Boulevard
The Sevastopol state enterprise “Parks and Squares” notified the charitable foundation “35th Coastal Battery” of the need to leave Matrossky Boulevard in the city center, which is being reconstructed by the foundation.
“The notice implies that termination of the contract will be carried out. That is, all equipment must be withdrawn from there by November 22. That is, until this time we have the opportunity to do something,” said the head of the fund, Pyotr Nikolaev, on local TV.
Well-known blogger in Sevastopol Alexey Protsko believes that stopping the reconstruction is the personal revenge of the governor of Sevastopol Dmitry Ovsyannikov on the hero of the Russian Spring Alexey Chaloy, who finances the project through the foundation.
“I wouldn’t want to cover up the entire government. This is absolutely the idea of Dmitry Vladimirovich himself. If it weren’t for him, his subordinates would have even thought about stopping the reconstruction,” Protsko said on the ForpostTV YouTube channel.
He believes that curtailing the project at its current preparatory stage means destroying Matrossky Boulevard.
“The very heart of Sevastopol is being destroyed simply because the governor wanted it so. Against the backdrop of his failures in Victory Park and Akhmatova Park, all the devastation that Dmitry Vladimirovich sowed in our city, such a successful project. If the project of the 35th Battery Foundation is now curtailed, then Matrossky Boulevard will never be completed by the government of Sevastopol,” Protsko said.
As proof of his rightness, he recalled that Chaly was creating a large-scale museum at the 35th coastal battery, which became a new tourist attraction in Sevastopol.
“The volume of investments in Matrossky Boulevard will be comparable to investments in the 35th battery. According to my data, this is 700 million rubles. This will be the same object in value. Everything there will be done at an expensive price, to last forever,” Protsko said.
